Now you might have a few questions about plans, like :

How do plan works ?

Once you subscribed a plan, the badge at the upper right corner will indicate you how many days you have left in your plan. badge copass coworking plans

All you have left to do is to find the spaces you want to work from and go there. When in the space, go to the space’s page on Copass and click on the checkin button, just like before! If you still have some days left in your plan, you’ll see on the confirmation popup that the checkin is included in your plan.

Plan-Checkin

Confirm and Voilà! Now, if you go to your transaction & invoice sections, you’ll see that those checkins are marked as included in your plan.

Subscribing today, when would my plan start and end?

Copass memberships activate upon purchase. They are monthly recurring memberships and will renew each month on the same day of the month that you signed up. This means that if you subscribe to Copass on the 13th, your membership will renew on the 13th of each month.

What if I used all the days included in my membership but need a few more?

No worries ! When you’ve run out of days, you can still use your Copass account! You’ll automatically switch to the pay-per-use system. Extra days will be charged on your credit card until your plan renews.

Can I cancel or change plan anytime?

Yes! There is no long-term commitment for Copass. You are welcome to change or cancel your membership, as long as this is done at least one day before your cycle renews.

Plan-Editing

Will I be able to get into every space I want?

Absolutely. The best part about Copass: we’re in more than 300 cities in 75 different countries around the globe, and you are welcome to use your Copass in any of them! Your Copass membership simply does not cover accommodation costs for spaces offering it.

Can I go as much as I want in each space?

Yes. There is no limit to how many times you can go to one space. Many of our members have a favorite space where they spend most of their time. Do as you please!

How can I be sure I’ll get a desk in spaces I go?

Spaces can choose if a request is mandatory or not before coming. Most spaces do have the capacity to host you at anytime but we recommend that you respect the request policy of the space to get the best experience possible.

Request status

Some spaces do not always have staff members everyday and you want to be sure somebody will be there to host you. In many spaces though, you can simply drop in without prior notice and seat wherever you want.

I’am already a Copass member, how can I subscribe to a plan?

That’s pretty simple: just go to the Copass plans page or to your account section, select the plan you need and follow the steps.

We hope you’ll love those plans as much as we do. We want to hear from you! Let us know if you have any question or have an idea to make it even better. Your feedbacks make us better everyday. Keep on fueling us.

Happy Copassing.

Somehow, We’re All Going to Be Digital Nomads Tomorrow

coverfix

To be correct, many of us who do most of our productive work on a laptop are going to be “digital nomads.” But not nomads in the way we usually picture it. Not always on the go, with no homebase, minimalistic with all of our belongings in one bag, no family, no friends to have for more than 6 months.

The story of the digital nomad makes us dream. It’s something that I often call “lifestyle porn” or “freedom porn.”

Those people exist and there will be more of them for sure, but they are an extreme version of what many of us will become.

Coworking in Berlin: Agora Collective

Cover-Blog-Agora-Collective

What Should You Expect?

Organic food, macchiatos, tattoos, a quaint garden, Brazilian folks & lots of cool foreigners and locals.

Ok I’ve got to admit it: for coworking in Berlin, I’ve got a crush on Agora… The first reason might be that it is nested in my beloved city of Berlin. It’s hard to live in Europe without at least having heard about how special the German capital city is, unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 10 years.

Stop the Myth: Coworking Isn’t Hype, It’s right

img5

Disclaimer: I am stealing this quote from Fernando Mendes, founder of CoworkLisboa.

Fernando said this sentence as a response to the recent Time article titled “Why Coworking Is Hot“. I think it’s a very valid point. After all, something hyped is something fashionable. It’s something people do by imitating other people. It’s ephemeral – as temporary as the next hype will destroy the old one. It’s exactly the opposite of how coworking developed. Coworking spread because it was just right. Let me explain a bit.

3 Lessons Learned from Being Featured on Product Hunt

Product-hunt-logo - 1000px-rectangle

Last Friday, we had the surprise and pleasure to be featured on Product Hunt. For those who don’t know this platform yet, it’s essentially a community board where people can upvote tech products.

Basically, every day a few new and cool products are selected and upvoted by the community. In very little time, Product Hunt became a very important player in the tech community. Hundreds of companies that have been featured on it have raised money afterwards.

Let us share with you our key learnings.

“This is not not about work anymore.”

it s not about work

We stole that awesome slogan from Coworklisboa, one of the coolest spaces in Lisbon and one of the pioneers in Europe. This motto pretty much sums up our vision here at Copass: It’s not about work anymore.

At Copass we always feel kind of embarrassed explaining what we do and why we do it. I mean, we’re not about selling workspaces! Sure awesome and inspiring workplaces are key to Copass, but only because we believe they open doors to communities, to new ideas, to better travelling and simply living experiences – not because they’ll sell you the best seats!

With coworking spaces, you’re not just a random tourist consuming a new place. You’re just part of it.

Why we don’t like the idea of “Proworkers”

1424349_509987089099389_511731538_n

There have been debates recently about “proworkers” vs “coworkers” in the coworking world. It appeared in some panel discussions during the Coworking Europe Conference in Lisbon this year, and it left several coworking players in a kind of doubt.

We don’t like this concept of proworkers. Let us explain why.

A “proworker” would be a kind of coworker that allegedly just wants to “get his work done”. He is described as somebody often coming from the corporate world. Some people have been urging coworking spaces to address this new audience. Well, to be honest, we don’t really get it… First, what does it even mean to be a proworker? Does it mean that coworkers are just not “professional” – that they’re like silly kids doing insignificant stuff, who don’t need any kind of professional facilities? Does it mean that coworking spaces don’t offer real, “pro” infrastructure (whatever that might be)?

The Ouisharefest seen by the Men in Blue

From the 5th to the 7th of May, Ouisharefest opened its doors for the festival’s second edition. In very little time, it’s become a world-renowned event, with more than 1,000 people from across the globe gathering in the beautiful cabaret sauvage in Paris for 3 days of talks, sharing and, most of all, fun.

Copass at Ouisharefest

Copass at Ouisharefest

“You know something is happening, but you don’t know what it is” Bob Dylan

Ouisharefest has a very special vibe. Something that is hard to put into words. It’s an important and “serious” event, as it connects the most relevant players in the collaborative economy, yet you never get the feeling that networking is the final goal. It just happens. A lot. But it happens in a very natural fashion. People start chatting while building an opensource beehive, while cooking together or while listening to live music. We become friends first, and then talk about what we do later on.

Ouisharefest is critical in supporting and amplifying the progress of the collaborative economy.

Eating our own dog food… and loving it

Back to work

When we started working on Copass, we did it because this is the way we wanted to work. We wanted to be able to work from anywhere and connect with the most interesting people in town, wherever we went. And that’s exactly what we’re doing right now. We’re eating our own dog food, so to speak, and we love it.

In the past month, we’ve worked from 10 different spaces, in 6 different cities (Berlin, Torino, Grenoble, Lyon, Paris and Lisbon) and 4 different countries. Building Copass while copassing around has been incredible. We discovered amazing spaces and met loads of great people, from a guy building open source meteorological stations to a group working on the optimization of energy consumption in smart cities, and even a few people who are making their own movies…

How a network of coworking spaces could revolutionize the way we work

A federation of coworking spaces could revolutionize the way we work in a similar way cloud computing did. Cloud computing allowed anyone to rely on a global, cheap and reliable server infrastructure without any technical hassles. Copass will let us rely on a global, convenient and powerful network of spaces and communities wherever we go. Here is a small comparison between the two phenomenons.

Copass - power to the people

The cloud

When we first started building things for the web, there was a huge amount of work required. Launching a web service meant establishing, managing and maintaining our own server farm and hiring a bunch of engineers to prevent service outages. Or to limit the effects of crashes when they did happen.

Then came shared-hosting, we could effectively outsource server maintenance and responsibility for downtime. Yet when opportunity struck and someone like TechCrunch waxed lyrical about our work, a sudden influx of traffic to our site made it painfully slow. Shared servers were just too inflexible to cope with increased demand.

Developments in server infrastructure for web applications have introduced cloud services, such as Heroku, AWS or Google App Engine, and made the idea of releasing a web app accessible to anyone. We now have the flexibility to seamlessly expand or reduce server capacity to meet the needs of our service, with the click of a button.

Interestingly, we see a similar pattern developing in workspaces.

Designing lifestyles: toward a new way to live and work

Srendipity

Every good project starts with a vision. The vision behind Copass has been clear from the very beginning. We’re all about designing lifestyles. Or more precisely, about letting people design their own lifestyle by providing them with tools that would enable a completely new way to live and work. A lifestyle that would be more fulfilling, more efficient, more collaborative. We’ve been discussing it for the last few years with the people we met. We refined it through the projects we’ve been working on so far and thanks to the people we had passionate discussions with.
